About the event

Cyanotype and photograms are both early photographic processes with distinct histories. Cyanotype, invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842, is known for its characteristic blue tones and was initially used for reproducing technical drawings and botanical illustrations. Photograms, on the other hand, are camera-less images created by placing objects directly on light-sensitive material and exposing them to light. While photograms are older, dating back to the earliest days of photography, cyanotypes became a popular method for creating them due to their simplicity and accessibility.

Discover the magic of cyanotype and photogram printing in this hands-on alternative photography class. Using sunlight, chemistry, and everyday objects, you’ll create bold, blue-toned artworks with no camera required. Perfect for curious creatives of all skill levels!
