The Story of Lenses & Brushes

Lenses & Brushes began as a spark of inspiration in 2021 during a Fine Arts Photography class—a time when I found myself fully immersed in the beauty and process of analog photography. When I learned that Boise’s last public darkroom was on the brink of closing, something inside me shifted. I felt a deep responsibility to preserve this creative cornerstone of our community.

What started as a dream quickly evolved into a mission: to protect and expand this sacred space for artists and photographers of all ages. That dream became Lenses & Brushes—a creative studio offering hands-on photography workshops, in-field sessions, and access to Boise’s last public darkroom. But our vision reaches beyond traditional photography. We also offer workshops in painting, mixed media, and alternative photographic processes—inviting artists of all kinds to explore, experiment, and grow.

At Lenses & Brushes, we believe in the transformative power of art. This is more than just a place to learn—it’s a space to connect, unwind, explore, and celebrate creativity. Whether you're joining us for a fun evening of painting with friends, learning a new skill, or picking up an old passion, we’re here to spark joy, curiosity, and imagination.

This new chapter with Lenses & Brushes is a dream realized, and I’m honored to share it with you.
